Finally a sunny day here on the mid-Atlantic coast; this has been the grayest few weeks I can remember.
So on a brighter note . . .
The January Block from Pat Sloan's 2016 Block of the Month called My Secret Garden.
Sourcing strictly from stash -- see that button on the left? -- I'm attempting to duplicate her colors generally, but mine aren't nearly as bright. Oh, well. The price was right (already paid for!).
You may remember reading the 1911 novel The Secret Garden by Frances Burnett. I wonder how Pat's mystery quilt would look in the famous Downtown Abbey fabric line reflecting the same era?
Pretty yummy I'd bet. While just searching around for any collection images, I found these two sets of fat quarter bundles on sale for what works out to be $5.23 per yard! D*** you, sew-from-stash resolution!
Back on the 1911 book title: If you search to buy a copy, be sure to type in THE Secret Garden and not the name of Pat's quilt pattern, MY Secret Garden. The results are quite, shall we say, dissimilar, much to my surprise.
What are you moving forward with this Monday? Join me at the linky parties over at What a Hoot!, Em's Scrap Bag, and Cooking Up Quilts.
Thank you for taking the time to read my blog.
Kimberly
Love the images for the fat quarter packs you found. I would have lost my resolve if I were you.
ReplyDeleteBelieve me, it wasn't easy. Thanks for commenting.
DeleteWhat a pretty block! It looks pretty involved too, especially if you have to make very many of them.
ReplyDeleteI really like it too, but this time it's a block of the month, so only one. Thanks for commenting.
DeleteSo hard not to buy beautiful fabric! Love your block!
ReplyDeleteA real exercise in willpower, which based on my stash needs serious stengthening lol. Thanks for commenting.
DeleteI am planning to stitch from stash as much as possible this year too. Actually, I am trying to finish ufo's, and if I stick with that I wont even be able to play with stash.
ReplyDeleteSo hard when those great deals pop up! I like to buy fabric just because it goes well with others I have. And the stacks grow..
You have to throw in a new project once in a while or you may feel like quilting is a chore instead of a pleasure, just my humble opinion. Thanks for commenting.
DeleteNifty block. And yea for sewing from the stash!
ReplyDeleteYes, I really like this block Pat designed. I may use it elsewhere in the future too. Thanks for commenting.
DeleteHey! Thanks for linking up at BOMs Away. Your stash sure did a nice job for that block. love it!
