Country Charm Weekly Progress & Other Stuff

Behold Mount Scrapmore Rolling along on Country Charm Qal hosted by Daybrook Designs.

Traffic Jam continues apace.
Slow Sunday Stitching might be a first for me on this blog.  I'm warming up for the Bloomtopia Stitch along.
and you will see no capital letters "a" because I'm still struggling with my computer replacement issue.  lol

Country Charm Progress

Here's the cutting stage for this week's quilt along with Daybrook Designs.  #DaybrookDesignsCountryCharm2020 if you Instagram.
My laptop is in intensive care, probably won't make it through.  I really hate when that happens 😔.  So I'm using my husband's, with the broken Aa key.  Yep.

Thank you for reading my blog!

Fabric Pull and To-do List

Pulling strictly from stash is my collection for the free Country Charm quilt along just kicking off over at Daybrook Designs.  The 3's mean nothing other than I discovered I can draw with my finger on my phone app, lol.

#DayBrookDesignsCountryCharm2020

I grouped my colors obviously.  The darker tan second from bottom is not nearly as dark as it looks in the photo.  We're getting a little snow today, so camera light just isn't happening.

I'm about to fall behind on my 2020 goals, and we're not even into the second week of the year.  I'm shocked, I tell you, shocked.  So with Roseanne's encouragement of a linkup, I'm listing quilty must-do's for the next fewdays:

Post fabric pull for Country Charm to social media 1/7

Cut 100x 4.5" squares for Traffic Jam 1/7
→ Make first block for Create with Claudia free BOM QAL
Investigate 2020 Stash Buster Challenge at bordercreekstation.com 1/7
→ Make first blocks of Patriotic QOV 2020 QAL at beaquilter
Cut background for Monthly Color Challenge at patternsbyjen 1/7
→ Completely applique snowman wall quilt

It's really not as much as it looks like, and all of it is fun, so what am I waiting for?  And it's even snowing.  I'm on it!

January's OMGs - One Monthly Goal(s)

With the goal of FOCUS right out of the gate, I'm committing to two very January-ish things, that they'll be completed by the end of the month, so as not to become UFO's at all.  They could maintain the lofty status of actual Works in Progress -- never shuffled off to any recessed shelf like time-out punishment.  I'm personifying my quilts now.

This smiling guy was started in early December to follow the one Christmas entrance-way quilt in my home.  He's a derivative of Kim Schaefer's Calendar Quilts from C&T Publishers.

But he's a real departure into stash fabric.
I couldn't resist this one-yard remnant of colorful Christmas trees, maybe a couple years ago.  I happen to also have matching solids, so snowflakes they are!

I'll be trying raw edge applique here for the first time.  Wish me luck.
Right now he's enduring a case of needle-in-the-eye, but I'm sure he can take another couple weeks of it, because he hasn't complained yet, and in fact is still smiling.  (Personifying again.)  I'm committing to having him quilted and bound by the end of the link-up over at Elm Street Quilts.

These scrappy blue four- and two- patches are ready to become part of the Traffic Jam quilt along happening at Pat Sloan's blog right now.  It's a shorty:  only 3 weeks!  So, of course, I want this one quilted and bound by the end of this month.

Also linking this post up with Design Wall Monday at Small Quilts and Doll Quilts blog, and Quilting is More Fun Than Housework .

Rambling and personifications are ending now.  Thank you for reading my blog!

FOCUS IN 2020

It seems like a no-brainer to use FOCUS as my Word of the Year in 2020.  If you are young, you may not have heard that 'perfect' vision for your eyes is referred to as 20/20, or 20 in each eye (if you are blessed enough).  So folks with great vision find it easy to FOCUS.

Well, I don't have great vision, and that's why I can't FOCUS and that's my story and I'm sticking to it.  (Stomps foot of inner five-year-old.)

Not.  It isn't even Quilter's ADD that keeps my fabrics on the bolt or in pieces.  I have unfinished projects in every area of my life.

FOCUS in 2020 on making finished projects, because I'm not getting any younger, and these fabrics are not going to sew themselves.

Please tell me YOUR Word of the Year 2020 if you have one, and why you've chosen it!

Thank you for reading my neglected blog,

Kimberly

Kathleen Tracy Quiltalong

Something I've been up to ....

A quiltalong is under way by Kathleen Tracy who wrote "A Prairie Journey" just last year.  It's full of the cutest, complete-able, small quilts ever.

I knew I was saving those one-inch little strips for something good.  And here that something good is, with incentive to indulge all year with other quilters literally on the same page, lol.

There's a small quilt featured each month on Kathy's Facebook group which you may find here.  In January we've been working on the scrappy log cabin, and I have to tell you these tiny, colorful blocks are addictive.  Pics coming soon.

Thank you for reading my blog,

If you haven't heard... Island Batik Blog Hop Starts Today

The title pretty much says it all.  Except the all-important link to Little Bunny Quilts who's hosting.  Enjoy!

Have a great day,
